Prvé kroky k minimalizmu

Since I learned more about minimalism, I was amazed. I was astonished at the people who were able to reduce their stuff so much that they only lived with a small amount of what they really needed and used. I read the article after the article, watched videos for hours and admired simple wardrobes, airy apartments, life without crap.
I do not even think of myself as a minimalist. I’m still very far from the model of perfect minimal life, and I will not reach it because there are still things I will certainly not give up in the near future. Minimalism is a very long journey full of obstacles and self-overcoming, but like all the other things I talk about here, it’s something I believe in.
Whether you are interested in minimalism and you are looking for ways to simplify some areas of your life, I believe that this article will help you.
First of all, it is important to realize what minimalism means to you, what attracts you and why you are interested in it. Everyone will have different reasons and answers. Personally, I often feel lost in things I own. When I’m looking for something, I can never find it, even if I put it away where I’ll certainly remember. A mess gets created very fast around me that I do not want to clean up. And I do not want to clean it up because I have a lot of unnecessary things I do not even know why I have.
A simple, yet effective step, while starting a minimalist journey, is to get rid of all the things you do not need. The six categories of things you do not need at home are already written in this article. But there is another way – not by type, but by your relationship with things.
Have nothing in your house that you don’t know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful. —William Morris
First are duplicates – things that you have more pieces of. You certainly do not need two hand mixers, four red lipsticks or three pairs of simple black high-heels – especially when you always reach for the same pair.
The second are things you do not use or do not use enough often to have them at home. Such things just take the place and accumulate. Get rid of everything you have not held in hands for over a year – whether it’s a hair iron or a set of screwdrivers. And if you happen to have a situation where you need something you threw away in the future, you’ll find someone in your family or among friends who has the same or similar thing at home – and uses it more often than you do.
The final phase is the hardest. It is left to you to consider whether all the things that you have left, you really need. For many things, we have only a built emotional relationship, or we’ve got them from someone close.
If you do not know whether you need the item, put it aside – into an older box, which you then hide under your bed or on the bottom of your closet. If there is a situation where you will need something from the box, of course you can take it out. Even more effective is when you ask someone to take it out for you – so you will not know what’s still in the box. After a few months, write down what is should be in the box. Things you’ve forgotten can be thrown away without guilt – this way you will know they do not mean to you enough to keep them. Reassess if what is left to you is what matters to you in order to keep them.
Do not be afraid to regift. I know this is not very polite – but the things we get and do not use, will end up at the bottom of a drawer, from where we throw them out when we no longer feel guilty about getting rid of them. If you know about someone who will love the gift, give it to them.
Minimalism, however, is not just about throwing things out. It’s also about not buying unnecessary things and making things easier. The fact that you do not have to worry about wearing the pieces of clothing that you love again and again, or having the same breakfast for two days. Minimalism is about eliminating stress and happier life. It’s about getting to know what’s really important to you, and what has not only price, but also value.
Close your eyes and think about how you spend your free time. How your morning looks. How many times a day you spend going from place to place or doing activities that are totally useless and just killing time. All this can be changed simply by minimalizing.
Create a morning and evening routine – and stick to it. After a while, you will be doing the tasks without thinking, but mainly stress-free, and you will know exactly how much time you need in the morning.
Find some time for yourself. Write a diary, go for a run, read a few pages of a book, look at the sunset. When you are used to an endless running late, you quickly recognize the importance of stopping and ‘turning off’.
Minimalism is about small steps. This journey takes years, but in the end waits a life without the stress, surrounded by people and things that mean something, days lived to fullest. Freedom.
Žasla som nad ľuďmi, ktorí dokázali zredukovať svoje veci natoľko, aby žili len s malým počtom toho, čo reálne potrebujú a používajú.
Každý bude mať iné dôvody a odpovede.
Táto cesta trvá roky, no na konci čaká život bez zbytočného stresu, obklopený ľuďmi a vecami, ktoré niečo znamenajú, dni prežité naplno. Sloboda.
