DIY telové maslo

I recently wrote to you about the amazing uses of coconut oil as well as its benefits and disadvantages, and at the end I mentioned that if you were interested, I would show you the cosmetic products that I have made myself. Your answers made me very happy, that’s why I’m coming here with the first DIY so soon – and it will be a tutorial how you can make a body butter.
I’ve created this “recipe” more or less by myself, but it was based on a video that Lauren from Trash Is For Tossers published three years ago. The video itself says that the ratio of individual ingredients can be customized according to own needs. There are two reasons why I decided to adjust my recipe – I did not want to run around Bratislava for cocoa butter and sweet almond oil that would be sold in glass; but from the beginning I wanted to use more shea butter.
And here is my result.
My base was shea butter – I bought it in my local drugstore. It’s organic, unrefined, and a two hundred-mililiters package cost me 9.49 €.
Shea butter is a yellow fat that consists of six fatty acids. At room temperature it is stiff and dense. Naturally, it contains vitamins A, E, and F and SPF 6. It, thanks to fatty acids and vitamin, calms dry or burned skin, reduces its redness, supports natural collagen production, and prevents wrinkles and stretch marks, soothes irritated skin after shaving, and since it does not contains any chemicals, is also suitable for children; but most importantly, it hydrates the skin deeply and for a long time.
I have already mentioned the benefits of coconut oil – I also noted that it is not suitable for acne prone skin, because it can clog the pores. Well, since I knew from the beginning that I would not use the butter on my face, I decided to add a small amount of coconut oil to it, too.
The last ingredient is an orange essential oil. I have mentioned several times that I don’t really like beauty products that smell, but I could not resist it here. Although shea butter has a beautiful nutty aroma, coconut oil smell (of course) as the coconut, and together it is a very nice combination, I just want to add a touch of freshness to the butter. And here I don’t mind the aroma of oranges – I adore it.

I did not follow any specific tutorial while making this, and I pretty much eye-balled the ingredients – but at the end, I used three tablespoons of Shea Butter to three teaspoons of coconut oil, and I added fifteen drops of orange essential oil.
I did not warm up this mixture and it was not necessary. With the electric whisk (you can use the mixer too, it does not matter) I mixed all three ingredients together and I whisked them until a beautifly whipped butter was created.
I moved the butter into a small glass container that is airtight, and I bought it some time ago in IKEA in a pack of three.
Although I do not use it on my face, it is excellent for soothing dry or irritated skin – in the area of elbows, knees or heels, and after shaving. It hydrates the skin for a long time and leaves it noticeably soft and smooth.
Since the butter consists mainly of shea butter, which is naturally very tough, it is harder to rub it into the skin – but by a tip from my dear Johanka I put it on a damp place and it really helps.
I fell in love with this product very quickly and I surely recommend it!
Tento “recept” som si vymyslela viac-menej sama, no vznikol na základe videa, ktoré pred troma rokmi zverejnila Lauren z blogu Trash Is For Tossers.
Mojim základom bolo bambucké maslo – to som kúpila v drogérii DM.
Prirodzene obsahuje vitamíny A, E a F, a ochranný faktor 6.
A tu mi vôňa pomarančov nielenže neprekáža – zbožňujem ju.

Nepostupovala som podľa žiadneho postupu a jednotlivé ingrediencie som dodávala viac-menej od oka – no nakoniec som použila tri polievkové lyžice bambuckého masla k trom čajovým lyžičkám kokosového oleja, a pridala som pätnásť kvapiek pomarančového oleja.
Túto zmes som nezohrievala a ani to nebolo potrebné.
