I’m convinced that veganism is the best way to eat. Of course, the diet must be balanced, because even french fries or ice cream can be vegan and they are certainly not healthy; But this is, after all, true to any kind of diet. But I believe that animals are not intended for human consumption. And to the argument that prehistoric people ate meat, too, I will only say that these civilizations also lived in a cave, did not know electricity and died of easily curable diseases, so the fact that they ate meat doesn’t mean that we have to repeat it after them.I’m not saying that eating meat is absolutely terrible and all those who eat it are terrible. Not at all. Because even a vegan diet is not perfect. Many meals, which are also intended for vegans, contain palm oil, which literally destroys our planet, degrades the flora and kills animals. Imported fruits and vegetables from the other side of the world have a large carbon footprint. And there are people who really care about where they buy meat, milk and eggs from.
But the current state of conventional farms where cows, pigs and hens are kept for the animal industry is, in one word, disgusting. The conditions in which these animals must exist are sometimes impossible to look at; and I prefer not to talk about how animals are sometimes treated. And that’s just not right. Those poor animals don’t deserve it. To keep a living creature just because we want to eat? And no, the fact that plants are also living organisms is not an adequate reason enough, because plants do not have a central nervous system and therefore cannot feel pain. The fact that maybe a carrot knows when you pull it out of the ground, slice it and throw it in a pot is not the same as the pain a lobster feels when you throw it alive in boiling water.
